Comparing Similar Extensions

Dashlane vs Similar Extensions

Dashlane is a popular password manager that offers features such as storing unlimited logins, syncing data across devices, generating strong passwords, autofilling personal information, and providing dark web monitoring. However, other similar extensions like Simplify Gmail, 1Password Beta, and SimpleLogin also offer unique features that set them apart.

Key Differentiators and Unique Selling Points

Simplify Gmail focuses on enhancing the Gmail user experience. It allows users to group conversations, save common searches, pause their inbox, block email trackers, and customize the user interface. These features are unique to Simplify Gmail and not offered by Dashlane.

1Password Beta shares similar features with Dashlane such as generating, saving, and filling passwords. It also emphasizes on user privacy, ensuring that user data is encrypted and inaccessible. However, unlike Dashlane, 1Password does not offer features like autofilling personal info or providing alerts for data breaches.

SimpleLogin offers a unique solution to managing email privacy. Instead of focusing on passwords, it allows users to create email aliases to protect their real email addresses from spam and data breaches. This is a unique feature not found in Dashlane or other similar extensions.

Recommendations Based on Comparisons

The choice of extension largely depends on the user's personal needs and preferences. If a user's primary concern is password management and data security, Dashlane would be a solid choice. However, if a user is using Gmail extensively and wants a more streamlined user experience, they might consider Simplify Gmail. Users who value privacy and want to protect their email addresses from spam might find SimpleLogin useful. Meanwhile, those who prefer a simple and straightforward password manager could go for 1Password Beta.

Conclusion

Summarizing the overall strengths and weaknesses of the extension

The Dashlane extension offers several key strengths that make it a compelling choice for users. Its primary benefit is its ability to securely store unlimited login credentials with a built-in password generator, promoting the creation of strong and unique passwords for every account. It also provides a seamless autofill capability for both personal and financial information, saving significant time and ensuring accuracy when filling forms online. Additionally, Dashlane's dark web monitoring tool and instant breach alerts are critical features that help users identify compromised passwords quickly.

However, despite its many strengths, there could be room for improvement. For instance, some users might find the zero-knowledge security architecture, while beneficial for privacy, somewhat limiting in cases where they might want to share their stored information with trusted individuals or devices. This is a minor trade-off for the significant security benefits that this feature provides.

Final verdict on whether the extension is worth trying

In conclusion, the Dashlane extension is definitely worth trying. It offers a comprehensive suite of features that considerably enhance online safety and convenience. Given the growing threat of data breaches and the increasing need for strong password management, an extension like Dashlane is a valuable tool for any internet user.

Additional tips or recommendations for users

  • Ensure to regularly check your Password Health score and take appropriate actions for at-risk passwords.
  • Make full use of the Autofill feature to simplify your online transactions.
  • Stay vigilant and act promptly on any breach alerts you receive.
  • Remember that Dashlane's security is designed such that even they cannot see the information you store, further enhancing your privacy.

Saves me a lot of time!

Shane Thompson

I additionally find Dashlane seems to be toying around similar app access issues as have been previously reported. Upon visiting messenger.com, I attempt to click on the Dashlane logo in the top of the browser, it is greyed out. I click on it and get the login popup, but with no content - that is an empty white popup. I has now come good for me after disabling/enabling the extension then visiting this page...

Robert Thackston

Very worrying, app/access locked up a couple of days in a row recently. Was advised by Dashlane to uninstall/reinstall since 'issue' was resolved, and now I can no longer access Dashlane in Chrome. Have they been Hacked? Is 'free' no longer available or offered? How do I recover the passwords automatically created by Dashlane for my accounts? This is BS.

Christopher pougunas

Very worrying, I can no longer access Dashlane in Chrome, it still works fine in Android. Have they been Hacked?

Stu K

I have used Dashlane for many years with complete satisfaction. Could not get along without with so many PW's to remember or list.

Billy Beevers

In this day of websites and passwords, this is a must have. There is no way I could do without it.

Michael Reilly

latest update has screwed password autofill and generation.

Steve B

I have used this app for several years and now couldn't live without it. It not only keeps track of passwords, but it also auto fills information. Highly recommend!!

Robert Carter

Thi is a very well thought out app!

Daniela Dobson

This new Chrome update is really bad. Dashlane does not load up, not to mention the Chrome is super slow. Dashlane does not work. I deleted it, installed it again.

Arshad Noor

love it

James Loney

Love it! In its most basic form, it is real easy--I taught my 80 year old aunt how to use it and she herself admits she is USELESS on a computer!--and it stores a lot of great information best kept out of public view and access. Only one question--when multiple IDs/pw's have been established over several years for a particular app, does Dashlane show the most recent (presumably most accurate) ID/pw at the top of the list of 'used credentials?' Thanks guys keep refining this impressive and valuable and necessary piece of software. You are protecting millions of us and we are grateful for that!

Carl Highland

Excellent application. Have been using it for over two years. Can take some learning to use all of its features. But, it is definitely worth it.

Paul Fu, Jr. (puhfu)

Essential app for our whole family. Great for helping kids understand how easy it is to have secure passwords.

Katherine Cunningham

I would be completely lost without Dashlane. it's not only helped organize and make working between computers, phone, and but it's so easy to use!

aj franzone

I have had this for years and they keep getting better, my whole family uses this and we can share logins easily

E C Jackson

I can sign in with ease. Thank you.

Linda Rubin

excellent for absent minded one

Stuart Hendry

Using for years and I love it! Got friends and family to use it too.

Lenny Rothstein

Quality program which I have used for 5 years now with no problems. Couldn't do without it

Rodney Blevins

I've been using this for 3-4 years now and I don't know what I would do without it.

Richard MacKillop

Works great, super easy to use, I love it!

Anton Podnar

Brilliant, saves so much time.

Tim Twait

Keeps passwords, updates them as needed, secured with a primary password and easily integrates into your browser. Best Password keeper on the market. The Premium is even better.

Marilyn Williams

Keeps ALL of my passwords (work, personal, clubs, financial etc) organized into sections. Also has a secure area for special notes. but the BEST part is the emergency contact system. I recommend it to all of my clients for that specific reason. How many times I've seen someone die, and the family are left struggling to get access to accounts or even to FIND them!! Dashlane emergency contact is the best solution I've seen for this issue.

Bill Larsten

I love Dashlane! I am using it 10-15 times a day.

Dan Baldry

My go-to password manager. Works with everything I've encountered and has a number of extra features such as storing bank account and credit card info, as well as checking the dark web for you. The truth is, that with so many logins these days, you will need to trust a third party on-line agency to help you like a password manager. While it seems counter-intuitive to do so, the alternative is using pencil and paper or an equivalent electronic document (worse) - or even worse, using the same password that you remember for most things. You really want to work with a company that is dedicated to password management like Dashlane (I prefer not to allow google or facebook to manage my logins for this reason and also to reduce their ability to track). You want a company that 'can't afford to stuff up' and get hacked.. and even if they are, your specifc data is encrypted to your master password. That's still a small compromise (as is anything in security), but it's the best solution we've got and the risks in doing so are minimised while you're maximising flexibility and individual login security. Add 2FA, lengthy cryptic passwords (possible with a manager) and you've probably got the most robust individual security there is.

Mike Jamieson

It's wonderful. It works across all my devices, from iOS, to Windows, to Mac OS and whichever browser I'm using, it's all always there and working great. The contact autofill could be a bit better, but the password management is its core competency and it far exceeds expectations.

Theresa Horan

This program beats trying to remember the many passwords one has!

april box

Great for all your passwords. I hated getting online a few years ago, and now it's no problem. In fact it helps me keep safe by generating new passwords and it tells me about bad passwords I have and their easy to fix.
